Why this breed sits outside the matcher
The matcher only lists a breed when our references agree on every rating. For the Pembroke they do not agree on size, so the breed is not in the matcher at all. We would rather leave it out than pretend a settled answer exists.
What the references actually said
One reference recorded the Pembroke’s size as genuinely uncertain and declined to commit. The other called it small. Across the sources consulted, the split runs between small and medium. This page therefore asserts no size rating, and you should be wary of any page that does.
The sheet where it is agreed
Energy is moderate, and time alone is rated moderate too. With children the rating is good, and for first-time owners both references say yes. Space is flat-ok.
The practical side
- Grooming: moderate.
- Shedding: heavy. The coat comes out in quantity.
- Barking: vocal. A herding dog with opinions, freely shared.
The usual close, doubly earned
If two careful references cannot agree on a single Pembroke rating, that is the best argument this annual makes for its own rule: the individual dog outranks the breed sheet, and meeting the dog outranks everything.
